Energy Commission Webinar: Proposed 2022 Energy Code Solar Photovoltaic and Heat Pump Baselines
California Energy Commission (CEC) staff will conduct a series of workshops to present and discuss proposed changes to the 2022 California Energy Code (Energy Code). The goal of these workshops is to solicit feedback from concerned or affected members of the public before the start of the formal rulemaking process.

Proposed 2022 Energy Code Solar Photovoltaic and Heat Pump Baselines

This webinar will include staff presentations on the standards related to solar photovoltaic and
electrification in the 2022 Energy Code. This is the second workshop on this topic, following a
workshop on October 6, 2020 on encouraging greater use of electric heat pump technologies for low-rise residential buildings, high-rise residential buildings and selected nonresidential building categories, and proposed updates to solar photovoltaic and battery storage provisions. There will
be opportunities for public comment. Specific topics of discussion will include:
- Solar photovoltaic provisions for high-rise residential and nonresidential buildings
- Storage provisions for encouraging self-utilization in high-rise residential and nonresidential buildings
- Heat pump baselines applicable to nonresidential and high-rise residential buildings
