-
Swimming Pool and Spa Heating
This proposal includes measures for saving energy on pool heating: mandatory solar heating requirement for pools and spas, exploration of a variable-speed control installation requirement for pool pump systems, clean-up and clarification of existing requirements, and requirements for pool insulation. -
Nonresidential and Multifamily Elevators – No Longer Being Considered for the 2025 Code Cycle
This measure would look to modify or add to Section 120.6(f) in Title 24, Part 6 to incorporate additional mandatory performance requirements for elevators. Efforts would be focused on analyzing the cost-effectiveness of incorporating energy efficiency requirements for elevators in high-rise buildings. -
Compartmentalization and Balanced Ventilation / Indoor Air Quality (IAQ)
This proposed measure would add a mandatory measure for all multifamily units (except garden-style units) to lower the compartmentalization tested leakage value and use supply-only or balanced ventilation as a whole dwelling unit strategy—in other words, use of exhaust-only ventilation could not be used for whole dwelling unit ventilation. -
Multifamily Domestic Hot Water
Heat pump water heater (HPWH) systems use electricity to produce hot water by transferring heat energy from one source, typically air, to potable water. This process can be two to three times more energy efficient than a fossil-gas or electric-resistance water heating system. The CASE Team proposes the following measures for the 2025 Title 24, Part 6. -
Residential HVAC Performance
This code change proposal includes a number of measures designed to improve the performance of Heating Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) systems in new and existing Single Family and some Multifamily residences. Most of the measures are designed to improve the performance of Heat Pumps (HPs), although in some cases the measures are applicable to other types of HVAC systems as well. -
Multifamily Envelope
This CASE Report will focus on three measures that are grouped into the 'Envelope' category of building systems. These three measures work in conjunction to reduce the total amount of heat transfer that occurs in a building from the conditioned inside air to the outside ambient air. -
Multifamily Restructuring
The multifamily restructuring CASE Report will propose changes to envelope and HVAC requirements that differ under 2022 Title 24, Part 6 between multifamily buildings up to three habitable stories and multifamily buildings four or more habitable stories.
